File and Folder Paths in OS X Terminal

On the few occasions I use Terminal in OS X the biggest problem I seem to have is being able to navigate the directory hierarchy and access files or folders. After struggling with getting the correct file/folder path I’m usually greeted with No such file or directory reminding me that Terminal doesn’t like spaces in file/folder paths.

With that in mind here are a few ways to enter file/folder paths in Terminal.

Snow Leopard 10.6.3 Update Woes

In the 10 or so years I’ve been using Macs I can’t remember an Apple software update ever adversely affecting one of the many I’ve owned. That is until the recent 10.6.3 update.

Being a bit of a software-update junkie I installed the standalone 10.6.3 update on my late-2007 24″ iMac within hours of its release. Perhaps I should have heeded the calls of those more level-headed users and waited.

eMobile and Snow Leopard Fix. Hoorah!

After successfully performing a clean install of Snow Leopard on my MacBook I fell at the first hurdle: eMobile. My D12HW USB Modem simply didn’t want to connect under SL.

A quick call to eMobile and I was told to simply re-install the eMobile HW Utility and use it to configure the modem. No luck. SL kept reporting an AutoOpen error whenever I tried to open the utility. A second call to eMobile. Now I’m told that the eMobile HW Utility is not compatible with SL and they have no idea when it will be. Sigh.
